Comment on FCA's November Sales in Italy

 

  • Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) posted November sales in Italy of more than 35,000 vehicles. Market share was 24.1%, compared with 23.4% for the previous month.
  • The three best-selling models in Italy in November were the Fiat Panda, Lancia Ypsilon and Jeep Renegade.
  • The Fiat Panda and 500, Lancia Ypsilon, Fiat 500X and Jeep Compass were the leaders in their respective segments.
  • Jeep brand sales were up 34.3% for the month and 71.7% for the year-to-date.
  • Lancia had an extremely positive month with market share exceeding 3.0%. The Lancia Ypsilon ranked first in the B segment and second overall.
  • The Fiat brand continued as leader in the A segment, with the Fiat Panda and Fiat 500 posting a combined 53.5% share for the month. The Panda was overall market leader and posted a record 43.1% retail segment share. The Fiat 500X was leader in its segment for the year-to-date.
  • Alfa Romeo posted a 2.3% market share for the year-to-date, in line with the same period in 2017. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio was the best-selling vehicle in its segment for the year-to-date, with sales increasing 71.5% year-over-year.
  • Pietro Gorlier, Chief Operating Officer for EMEA, commented: "With the market still influenced by the new WLTP regulations, FCA further strengthened its focus on the more profitable channels: retail, true fleet and long-term rental. In the retail channel, FCA increased market share by more than 1.5 percentage points compared to the previous month and 2.4 percentage points compared to November 2017. In line with this strategy, Jeep brand continued its month-over-month sales growth and the Fiat 500, Fiat Panda and Lancia Ypsilon also posted another month of optimum results. FCA models taking the top three positions in the November rankings is a significant result."

 

In November, new vehicle sales in Italy totaled approximately 147,000 units. FCA posted sales of more than 35,000 vehicles with market share at 24.1%, representing a 0.7 percentage point increase over the previous month. For the eleven months year-to-date, Group sales in Italy totaled approximately 468,000 vehicles and market share was 26.2%.

 

Jeep returned another positive result with increases across the product range. In November, brand sales in Italy totaled more than 7,000 vehicles (+34.3% year-over-year) and market share was 4.8%. For the year-to-date, sales totaled nearly 78,000 vehicles (+71.7% year-over-year) and market share was 4.4%.
These results were driven by the Jeep Compass, first in its segment in November with more than 3,000 units sold, and the Jeep Renegade, first in its segment with more than 3,600 units sold.

 

Lancia sales totaled more than 4,400 vehicles in November with market share exceeding 3.0%.
Year-to-date, brand sales totaled more than 44,000 vehicles and market share was 2.5%. The Lancia Ypsilon posted another positive result in November, ranking first in the B segment with a 13.6% share.

 

Alfa Romeo sales totaled more than 41,100 vehicles for the year-to-date, with market share at 2.3%, in line with the same period in 2017.
The Stelvio was the best-selling vehicle in its segment for the January-November period with sales up 71.5% year-over-year. The Alfa Romeo Giulia was also the leader in its segment for the year-to-date with nearly 9,000 units sold.

 

Fiat brand sales totaled more than 22,000 vehicles in November and market share was 15.0%. Year-to-date, brand sales totaled more than 304,000 vehicles and share was 17.1%.
The brand continued its dominance in the Italian A segment with the Fiat Panda and Fiat 500 ranking first and second for both November and the year-to-date. The Panda also posted a 43.1% retail segment share in November, representing an all-time record.
The two models held a combined 53.5% segment share for the month and a 52.0% share for the year-to-date. The 500X was also leader in its segment with a 10.5% increase in sales year-to-date.
